Ferengi Ship construction varies widely based on the individual wealth of the owner. At times, ships may be poorly equipped and small, while other times, they may be bristling with weapons and devices of subterfuge. In almost all cases, however, Ferengi ships place a priority on cargo space, to maximize their trade load.
Klingon Ships
The Klingon Empire's focus on ship design and construction center around a common theme — Having the ship bristling with weapons, often at the expense of other systems. Most Klingon ships have substandard science labs, living quarters, and galleys, while their weapons and engines are more than adequate.

Romulan Ships
Romulan Ship construction centers around a hull conformation optimizing the effectiveness of a Cloaking Device, a technology that renders a ship undetectable. This explains the greenish hue present on all ships encountered. Ignoring this difference, however, Romulan Ships have comparable speed and firepower to an equivalent Federation starship.
